Madrasah Muhammad Amin Topchiboshi.

In the Parfenov-Fenin map, madrassas are indicated by the number # 494.

Back in 1911, most likely in May, the famous Russian photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorsky made a color photograph of Muhammad Amin Topchiboshi Madrasah with the corresponding caption “Top Chabash Mosque”. Due to the unusual, vibrant architecture that is not inherent in the architecture of the city of Bukhara, these madrassas could not be identified for these long years. As happens in such stories, chance helped. The riddle of this madrassah with the help of the book of the famous Danish traveler Ole Olufsen “THE EMIR OF BOKHARA AND HIS COUNTRY” was found by a linguist from Bukhara Rustam Daminov. I take this opportunity, we sincerely thank him for helping our project. You can read the detailed information in the following article by the scientific coordinator of the international project “Heritage of S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky” Vyacheslav Ratnikov:

Our friend, a great connoisseur of the history of our city, Anatoly Otlivanchik recently found another archive photo of this mysterious madrasah:

Madrasah was demolished and destroyed supposedly in the second half of the 20s of the last century, but no later than 1929.

Nowadays, a road passes through this place, the landmark is the current Bahauddin Naqshband street. Approximately a section of the road, where at the moment they are selling national bread products and Mir Said Kamol madrasah (Amulet Hotel).

Although the eclipse could not be captured due to cloud cover, in January 1907 Prokudin-Gorsky took many color photographs of Samarkand and Bukhara. In 1911, Prokudin-Gorsky twice made photo expeditions to Turkestan.
