Hindu Caravanserai (Hindiyon).

For reasons unknown to us, this caravanserai is not indicated on the Parfenov-Fenin map, and on the map drawn up by V. M. Filimonov this caravanserai is indicated by number #406.

A fairly significant group among the alien temporary population of the old city of Bukhara were Indians. As in other cities of Central Asia, in the majority they were moneylenders. Everywhere they lived in special caravanserais. The caravanserais where the Indians lived belonged to the emir’s treasury, which earned considerable income from renting them to the Indians. Judging by the occupied premises, there were about two thousand Indians living in Bukhara.

One of them was the Hindu caravanserai (Hindiyon), which was located between Tim Abdullahan and the Toki Zargaron trading dome, on the western side of the Abdulazizkhan madrasah.

The caravanserai was demolished in the early 50s of the last century.

One of those who photographed the aforementioned caravanserai (caption photo) was Danish travel officer Ole Olufsen.
