Mosque Kosim Shaykh Maidoni.
In the Parfenov-Fenin map, the mosque is indicated by the number # 373.
Opposite the northern side of the Kalyan mosque, there used to be a mosque of the same name quarter, Kosim Shaikh Maidoni. At the mosque there was a room for a complete ablution (“guslkhona”). The shrine of the quarter was the mazar Kosim Shaykh, who was considered the place of residence (“kadamgoh”) of this “saint”, according to legend, who lived during the time of Abdullahan (Khan from the Sheibanid dynasty) and buried in Kermina. Folk tradition is confirmed by the presence in Kermin attributable to the XVI century Mosque of Kosim Shaykh. Near the mazar there was a well, the appearance of which was attributed to the “saint”, why his water was considered healing.
Nowadays, you can see the above, newly restored well, it is located next to the gates of the Chashmai Mirob restaurant.
There are suggestions that the Kosim Shaikh Maidoni mosque suffered very much during the storming of the city in 1920 and it was destroyed.
Thanks to the French photographer and traveler Paul Nadar (1856-1939), we can see a photograph (caption photo) of the Kosim Shaikh Maidoni mosque.
