Lyab-i Hauz (Hauz Nodir Devonbegi).

The hauz, called Nadir Divanbegi, is an octagonal pond with a size of 42 by 36 meters and a depth of up to five meters. The walls of the hauz are formed by stone steps. The reservoir was able to accommodate more than 4,000 m3 of water that came from the canal system; the hauz had no runoff. In later times, the hauz was turned into a fountain.

At the beginning of 1619-20, on the initiative and at the expense of the representative of the Uzbek arlat family, Nadir Divanbegi, the vizier at Imamkuli Khan, a hauz was broken in the square and a khanaka was built, named after its creator. In 1623, the same Nadir Divanbegi erected the building of a caravanserai, then turned into the Divan-Begi madrasah.

In the 1920s, the hauz miraculously avoided the draining done with most of the rest of the hauzs in Bukhara, which were considered as sources of disease, the high artistic value of the ensemble played the main role in saving the hauz. Hauz Nadir Divanbegi is part of the Lyabi hauz complex (“At the Hauz”, “At the Pond”). # 451; #XIII.
