Madrasah Badalbek Nau.

In the Parfenov-Fenin map, madrassas are indicated by the number # 374.

Badalbek Nau Madrasah is very well described in the book of Tajik Soviet writer, public figure and scientist Sadriddin Aini (1878-1954) “Memoirs” (“Yoddoshtho”), Sadriddin Aini studied at this madrasah from 1894 to 1895. :

“The new Badal-bek madrasah was located north of the Kalon mosque in Bukhara. They were connected by a large street leading to the Registan; there was also the Mir-Arab madrasah, which I knew well. The courtyard and the main gate of the Badal-bek madrasah were facing west a small area, on the other side of which was visible the back door of the lower estate of the emir, popularly known by its former owner Mirzo Khurd.

The madrasah where I settled was built in the traditional style of Bukhara. The builders left very little free space in the entrance arch, the madrasah rooms were extremely cramped. The facade of the building was two-story, and the other three sides were single-story. There were only thirty-five rooms in the madrasah, and as for the “hanging” rooms (located upstairs in empty corners between the living quarters), they were even more crowded. “

Madrasah was destroyed in the late 30s of the last century.
